Race of The Minutemen

With high confidence, The Hippies took the plane to the United States. Race of the Minutemen was going to be the first tour for this young team and they had high hopes that their star, Byron McVining, would be able to shine at this Tour.

Before the tour, the manager of the team, The Machine, told the press that The Hippies aimed for some top-9 results in stages and hopefully also in the GC. Additionally, The Machine told the reporters that McVining also aspired a good YC, possibly even the win.

Despite a 6th and 4th place in respectively the 2nd and 3rd race, RotM turned out to become a big deception for the young, talented squad of riders.

McVining did not manage to keep up with the favourites in the King's Stage, when the high mountains were to be conquered. He lost his 3rd spot in the GC that day and it even got him completely out of the top 10. Also for the YC, the young Scottish rider took a massive hit, going from 1st place to 3rd. Early on in the first climbs McVining felt his legs weren't in the best shape and he felt he hadn't recovered too well from his massive efforts in the previous stages.

McVining did say he was surprised to see some non-climbers manage to hang on for far longer than he was able to. McVining did not want to speak his mind as to which riders he referred to, all he wanted to say about this was: ''Let's just say that some countries could be a wee bit stricter in the enforcement of their anti-doping programs. But shite, I don't want to sound like a whiner. I F***** it up myself and I was simply not good enough. You live and learn, aye?''

The Machine commented that he was now gonna let his team recover from their efforts and then the team will set its sights on securing a sign-up spot for Fast On Wheels. The Machine told the crowd that they would go their with bigger ambitions and that their would be no excuses for failure next time.

Furthermore, The Machine also announced a mid-season sponsorship change and the traditional blue and white was traded in for a new, fresh green and white colour scheme.
